Efficacy of the alcoholic extracts of eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camldulenis L.) leaves and barks against adults of cowpea beetle Callosobruchus maculatus (Fab.) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae).

The present study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Eucalyptus camldulenis L. leaves and barks alcoholic extracts in three concentrations (1.25, 2.5and 5%) against cowpea beetle Callosobruchus maculatus (Fab.), which was monitored 24 and 48 hours after treatment. The result showed that the highest effective mortality of the leaves and barks extracts were obtained with the concentration 5 gm.ml-1 after 24 and 48 hours reached 60.00 % and 80.00 % respectively, and the lowest effective mortality of the leaves extract was 36.67% and 66.67% respectively after 24 and 48 hours at 1.25 gm.ml-1. The attract rate of insect was 9.5 in concentration 5 gm.ml-1 and 3.66% at 1.25 gm.ml-1 compared to an expulsion rate amounted 23.5% at 5 gm.ml-1 and 21.83 at 2.5 gm.ml-1 respectively for leaves and barks.
