EFFECT OF SEED RATE IN SOME GROWTH AND YIELD CHARACTERS FOR TOW VARIETIES OF RICE ANBER BAGHDAD AND ANBER MANATHERA
Abstract
The field experiment was carry out in rice research station in Mishkhab/Najav province in seasons 2010 – 2011 to study the effect of seed rate in phenotype and production characters for tow rice cultivate varieties Anber Baghdad and Anber Manathera. The study included three seed rates: 0.100, 0.140 and 0.180 tn.ha-1 for seasons 2010 and 2011 by using dry cultivate method. The results showed that seed rate 0.100 tn.ha-1 was superior compare to other seed rates in all study characters which gave early flowering 115.83, 115.50 days early mature 140, 150 days and gave high plant 124.33, 123.67 cm highest panicle length 28.67, 27.83 cm lowest fertility percentage 0.50, 0.67% and high grain per panicle 148.17, 150.33 grain, panicle.m-2 278.30, 258.30 panicle, thousand grain weight 28.33, 27.50 gm and grain yield 4.920, 5.053 tn.ha-1 for both seasons respectively compared to other seed rates.
