Implementing Interactive Writing Technique to Enhance Students’ Composition Skills at Mustansiriya University

This study investigates the effectiveness of interactive writing as a technique to enhance students’ composition skills at Mustansiriya University. This study aims primarily at investigating students’ use of interactive writing technique and whether these applied techniques affect their academic writing performance. The participants included 10 instructors, who are teaching and college of Education, college of Arts, and college of basic education at Mustansiriyah university and 38 first-year students (both male and female) enrolled in the composition writing course in the College of Basic Education, English Department, during the 2024–2025 academic year. A qualitative approach was adopted, utilizing two primary data collection methods: classroom observation and instructor interviews. Convenience sampling technique was applied for observing class session when conducting writing task. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with instructors to express the perceived benefits and challenges of implementing interactive writing.
