الملخص

This quasi-experimental study investigated the comparative effects of movie-based instruction and traditional textbook based instruction on the listening comprehension skills of university level English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, employing a non-equivalent control group pre-test/post-test model, because it was not administratively possible to randomly assign individual participants to conditions. In order to prevent upsetting established schedules and student cohorts, it was necessary to preserve full , pre- existing university classes.
