This research attempts to apply one of the most important aspects of Cognitive Linuistics, specifically Canonical Event Model, to J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings. Addressing a gap in current research that the previous studies mainly focus on cognitive semantic analyses of literature; this research aims to show the workability and applicability of Canonical Event Model, within Cognitive Grammar, in understanding the cognitive structure system in fantasy fiction.
